By Tom PorterRetired high school coach Chuck Shea ’63 has been honored by the Midcoast Sports Hall of Fame. According to local media, Shea was among eight people due to be inducted into the organization’s class of 2018 at a ceremony on October 20, 2018.
A graduate of Wiscasset High School, Shea returned there to coach in 1963 after graduating from Bowdoin College, “where he earned seven varsity letters in cross-country, baseball, and basketball,” according to the Wiscasset Newspaper. He coached the high school’s cross-country team to two state championships and also led the basketball team to its first undefeated season in 1981. For many years Shea served as Wiscasset High’s athletic director.
He still lives in Wiscasset, a scenic coastal town less than thirty minutes from the Bowdoin campus, with his wife, Faye.
