In between, the Latin American Student Organization (LASO) and Student Center for Multicultural Life also invited two academics to campus. Claudia García-Louis, assistant professor of educational leadership and policy studies, will speak on “Afro-Latinx: Navigating Blackness and Latinidad in the Age of Trump.” And Gloria Ladson-Billings, a University of Wisconsin emerita professor of education, will give a talk called “Hip Hop/Hope: The (R)Evolution of Culturally Relevant Pedagogy.”
Additionally, organizers invited Puerto Rican drag performer and reality-TV personality Cynthia Lee Fontaine to campus for a talk and performance.
