Bowdoin A Cappella Group Miscellania Wins TV Contest 'Sing That Thing!'

A hand-clapping, thigh-slapping performance by Bowdoin’s oldest female a cappella group, Miscellania, has the won the vocal ensemble the top spot in a regional television contest. On May 25, 2018, the group squared off against Brandeis University’s Starving Artists to win the “colleges” category of  WGBH’s Sing That Thing!  — a televised competition for regional singing groups, now in its fourth season.

The three judges praised the “fire” and “fierce intensity” of Miscellania’s performance of Delta Rae’s “Bottom of the River.” Also competing in the college division this season were groups from Amherst College, Bates College, Boston College, and Berklee College of Music.
