Thomas Brackett Reed Professor of Government Andrew Rudalevige was quoted in a US News & World Report article analyzing the recent electoral setback suffered by the GOP in a number of states.

In the piece, “The Limits of Trump’s Showmanship,” Rudalevige says the results “suggest that Trump’s outsize presence on the national scene may overshadow even good economic news,” he said, “and help Democrats change the face of the midterm electorate. But,” he added “it’s hard to know what either factor will look like a year from now.”

Rudalevige said midterm elections “almost always” yield poor results for the president’s party.
