FinTech Meetup in New York City Draws a Crowd of CBB Alumni

Last month Bowdoin hosted a FinTech Meetup for Colby, Bates, and Bowdoin alumni in the Financial Services Technology industry. This event built on the annual Tech Meetup events that have taken place in New York City for several years. Guests enjoyed the opportunity to mix and mingle with fellow CBB alumni before the program. An alumni panel titledThe Future of Finance and Leveraging your Liberal Arts Degreefeatured the following prominent alumni:

  • Tom King (Bowdoin ’82) Retired CEO, Barclays Investment Bank
  • Greg Ehret (Bates ’91) CEO and Executive Director, PineBridge Investments
  • Nick Silitch (Colby ’83 and Bowdoin P’17, P’20) Senior Vice President and Chief Risk Officer, Prudential
  • Moderated by Grant Easterbrook (Bowdoin ’11), former fintech analyst who is frequently quoted on the subject

The panelists discussed a wide range of subjects including their backgrounds, the types of jobs their firms hire for, the decision to attend or not attend business school, and what a liberal arts background can bring to FinTech. The panel discussion then shifted gears towards a conversation on how technology and innovation is changing different areas of finance and their predictions for the future.

The venue was generously provided by Keri Riemer (Bowdoin ’98), Counsel at Seward & Kissel LLP. To see more photos from the evening, visit the Bowdoin Club of New York Facebook page.
