San Francisco Welcomes the Class of '21

With views of the San Francisco Bay and Palace of Fine Arts, over 120 Bay Area alumni, families, students, and guests gathered to welcome members of the Class of 2021 to the Bowdoin community. Bringing a taste of Maine to the Little Marina, the Lobsta Truck delivered lobster rolls, chips and Whoopie pies to picnicking Polar Bears.  Current senior, Nora Cullen ’18 introduced the seven incoming students in attendance.  In total, 21 students are heading from the Bay Area to Bowdoin next year, representing 15 cities and 17 difference high schools.

Franco Sasieta ’16 presented the Alumni Council’s 2017 Polar Bear Award to Kate Emerson ’10, who was recognized for her contributions as BCAN Advisor, BASIC interviewer, event volunteer and Common Good Day host as well as her leadership in organizing the 45th Reunion of Miscellania.

Special thanks  Graham Patterson ’06 and Sonia Alam ’07 who welcomed everyone at the registration table; Kate Emerson ’10 and Luke Mondello ’10 who connected the new students to one another; and Holly ’90 and Mitch ’91 Zuklie (parents of Hannah Zuklie ’21) who greeted new parents.
