Annual Tech Meetup in New York City Draws a Crowd of CBB Alumni

New York City company founders, venture capitalists, and tech industry alumni got together at Bank of America Tower for the annual NYC Tech Meetup on Wednesday, January 18th.

The venue was generously provided by Marshall McClean ’02, Senior Vice President, U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management. In an effort to expand networking opportunities, Colby, Bates, and Bowdoin collaborated on this year's event and formed a host committee of 18 prominent alumni from the three institutions. Melody Hahm (Bowdoin ’13), Writer & Reporter at Yahoo Finance, conducted an engaging and informative interview with Ben Schippers (Bates ’04), Co-founder of HappyFunCorp. HappyFunCorp is a software engineering firm headquartered in Brooklyn, New York. The conversation covered topics including the New York City tech scene, challenges facing startups, securing funding, and how a liberal arts degree prepares you for a career in technology. Alumni stayed after the program to continue conversations and meet and mingle with fellow CBB alumni.

Special thanks to the Bowdoin Host Committee: Jon Brod '93, Arlyn Davich '03, Brendan Dickinson '04, Grant Easterbrook ’11, Melody Hahm '13, Beth Kowitt '07, and Rachel Wolkowitz '00.
