Bowdoin students from the Masque and Gown theatrical club are planning an outdoor performance of the Shakespearean tragedy Macbeth this weekend, on the steps of the Museum of Art. The shows, which start at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, run about 75 minutes and have a cast of 13, most of whom are first years and sophomores, according to director Trevor Murray ’16.

“One of the reasons I chose this play,” he said, “was that the Masque and Gown group used to do “Shakespeare on the Steps” in the early 1900s, and I thought it would be fun to revitalize that tradition as a graduating senior, especially since a lot of my theatrical education has been in Shakespeare.”

Murray said in the event of rain, performances will be held in Kresge Auditorium.
