Remembering 'Boston Globe' Chess Columnist Harold Dondis '43

chess-pieceThe Boston Globe pays tribute to its longtime chess columnist Harold Dondis ’43, who died of a heart attack December 10, 2015, while playing the game he loved at the Boylston Chess Club in Cambridge. Dondis was 93.

A lawyer associated with the Boston firm Rich May for 70 years, Dondis was an avid chess enthusiast.

He was once carried out of the Waschusett Chess Club on the shoulders of his peers after defeating a future world champion chess player and had received the U.S. Chess Federation’s Distinguished Service Award. Read more here.
