Museum of Art’s Alex Katz Portrait Depicts Artistic Friendship in Boston Globe

Alex Katz’s portrait of his friend, poet and dance critic Edwin Denby, part of the Bowdoin Museum of Art collection, is highlighted in the Boston Globe.

Sebastian Smee writes that Katz, at first, found Denby’s poetry “difficult,” which was “a problem for the smooth and concertedly hard-boiled Katz.” Read “Katz’s Portrait Captures ‘Lifelikeness’ of Friend.”

This is the second Boston Globe mention for the Museum of Art in the span of four days; in case you missed it, also check out a review of “Earth Matters: Land as Material and Metaphor in the Arts of Africa.”
