Bowdoin College Student Assistants at the Museum of Art

BCMA Student Assistants

The Bowdoin College Museum of Art is excited to welcome seven Student Assistants to our staff this academic year. With each Student Assistant bringing experience, interest, and new perspectives to the Museum of Art, it is sure to be a year of development and growth as we continue to engage with Bowdoin and the larger Brunswick community.

Our two Student Assistants to the Curator are Julian Ehrlich ’17 and Jamie Denton ’16. Julian is an Art History major and a Computer Science minor who has been involved with the Bowdoin Art Society and now acts as its President. Jamie is also an Art History major and has been an active participant in the BCMA’s Student Docent program since his sophomore year. Our three Student Education Assistants are Abigail Mahoney ’16, Julián Huertas ’16, and Frances Gurzenda ’16. Abigail is an Environmental Studies and Biology major and an Art History minor, with an interest in pursuing experiential education. Abigail brings much experience serving and interacting with the Maine community through Bowdoin’s McKeen Center. Julián is an Art History and Visual Arts major who plans to pursue architectural design after graduation. Julián brings three years of experience as a Student Docent to this position, as well as his continued involvement with Bowdoin’s art and design community. Frances, an Art History major and Education minor, is passionate about pursuing a career that joins these two fields, evident in her active facilitation of art experiences for students and community members. Our Student Communications Assistant is Sophia Namara ’16, a Visual Arts and French major, interested in learning more about the business side of the art world. Finally, continuing the social-media work from her summer internship at the Museum, Ella Blanchon ’16, a Visual Arts and Government double major, is returning to the Museum as the Student Social-Media Marketing Assistant.

We are fortunate to be able to work with these seven students and are looking forward to collaborating with them over the next academic year.
