This summer, the Bowdoin College Museum of Art enjoyed welcoming three new colleagues to our ranks. The Museum is also pleased to welcome back another. Academic and curatorial affairs will benefit from the recent arrival of Ellen Yoshi Tani, the Museum’s Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Curatorial Fellow, and Honor Wilkinson, the Museum’s new Curatorial Assistant and Manager of Student Programs. In addition to assisting with exhibitions and programs, Tani and Wilkinson will work closely with faculty and students enabling them to take full advantage of the Museum’s collections. Tani has recently received her Ph.D. from Stanford University, where her dissertation addressed: “Black Conceptualism and the Atmospheric Turn, 1968-2008.” Ellen comes to Bowdoin from her position at the Carter G. Woodson Institute for African-American and African Studies at the University of Virginia as Pre-doctoral Residential Research Fellow. She received her B.A. from Dartmouth College. Wilkinson has just completed her Master’s degree in art history at Oxford University, and received her B.A. from Harvard University, where she earned the Matthew Abramson Prize for Best Thesis in the Fine Arts.
We are also delighted to announce the arrival of Caroline Baljon ’11, the Museum’s new Assistant to the Co-Directors. Caroline has a Masters degree in Art History from the University of Amsterdam and has experience with commercial galleries and the use of the web and social media to engage audiences.
Finally, it’s a pleasure to welcome back Laura Latman, the Museum’s registrar, from Abu Dhabi, where she oversaw the installation of New York University’s new art gallery.
We thank and salute Elizabeth Carpenter, who has done an exceptional job fulfilling registrarial responsibilities at the BCMA since August 2014.
