Bowdoin’s 17th Annual Common Good Day, 2015

Common Good Day 2015
Saturday, September 19th
11:30 am to 4:30 pm

Join 500 of your fellow students, faculty, staff and alumni to
pitch in and learn about your local community. Dozens of partner organizations will host projects including outdoor cleanup, painting, office support, recreating with seniors and kids, and more.
All participants will receive lunch, a free t-shirt, and great memories!

HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?
You can participate as a driver, a project volunteer, or both. You can also sign up with a group or as an individual. Read on for details!

VAN DRIVERS. Are you are certified, or interested in becoming certified, to drive Bowdoin vehicles? If you can help on Common Good Day, let us know with this quick VAN DRIVER FORM.

KARMA SAVERS. Ready for Anything? Sign up TODAY to join THE KARMA LIST, and be assigned wherever the need is greatest on the morning of Common Good Day.

INDIVIDUAL STUDENTS. Sign up will be available beginning at 11:59pm on Tue, 9/8 and ending 11:59pm on Mon 9/14. All projects will be listed on the ONLINE SIGNUP TOOL.

FACULTY, STAFF and ALUMNI. Our quick STAFF-FACULTY-LOCAL ALUMNI SIGNUP FORM allows you to include friends or family, and indicate the type of service that works best for you. Sign up by Friday 9/11.

ALUMNI OUTSIDE of MAINE. Alumni and Parents across the Country will be participating in the following projects:

Boston Bowdoin volunteers will be partnering with Gaining Ground, a non-profit organic farm in Concord, Massachusetts.
Denver Bowdoin volunteers will be partnering with Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge in Denver. We will help Refuge managers landscape around the visitor’s center as well as other projects.
Washington, DC– Bowdoin volunteers will be partnering with D.C. Central Kitchen to participate in morning meal prep.
Hartford Bowdoin volunteers will join the Elizabeth Park Conservancy to help maintain the gardens and grounds of Elizabeth Park.
NYC Bowdoin volunteers will be partnering with Broadway Housing Communities at the Sugar Hill Development. Volunteers will participate in outdoor planting and help in the creation of the inaugural mural for the Sugar Hill Children’s Museum of Art & Storytelling with the guidance of artist, Saya Woolfalk.
San Francisco Bowdoin volunteers will be partnering with Golden Gate National Parks and the California Coastal Commission to participate in cleanup and restoration activities at Lands’ End Beach.
Seattle- Bowdoin volunteers will join The Nature Consortium in this collective effort to restore this important urban forest by removing invasive plants, primarily Himalayan blackberry.

STUDENT GROUPS. Submissions will be accepted beginning 11:59pm, Wednesday, 9/2 and ending 11:59pm on Sun 9/6. You can get started now! Just download our GROUP SIGNUP TEMPLATE, fill in all the information for all participants, and send your completed spreadsheet to commongoodday@bowdoin.edu.
