Trustee Emeritus Leon A. Gorman ’56, the former chairman of L.L. Bean, has been immortalized in the halls of the company founded by his grandfather, Leon Leonwood Bean. A portrait by acclaimed artist Jon Friedman, who has also portrayed Bill Gates, Michael Bloomberg and Ted Turner, was unveiled at L.L. Bean’s corporate headquarters in Freeport.

In 2010, Gorman was awarded The Bowdoin Prize, the highest honor the College bestows.
