Important Change to Fall 2021 COVID-19 Testing Protocol—September 9, 2021

Dear faculty and staff,

In light of the increased number of cases currently on campus we are asking all faculty and staff working on campus to PCR test once a week, starting the week of Monday, September 13. We believe that this increased testing of faculty and staff along with twice-weekly testing of students will allow us to isolate cases even faster, reducing transmission and helping get back to status level green. The weekly box of two BinaxNow self-tests will continue to be available to faculty and staff.

The test center location remains in Farley Field House. The test center is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. While we are in the 1x a week testing period please ignore your original testing cohort. You do not need to register for a time slot on Campus Groups for this increased testing.

We are asking faculty and staff to test based on their last name following the following schedule:

  • Mondays: A-E
  • Tuesdays: F-L
  • Thursdays: M-R
  • Fridays: S-Z
Those faculty and staff who have a vaccine exemption are still required to test both Mondays and Thursdays. If your work schedule does not have you on campus on your designated testing day or time, please select another day—again, there is no need to register as long as you test one time per week.

Be aware that we will be testing approximately 1,250 faculty, staff, and students each day. Please consider testing at an off-cycle time, avoiding the beginning and end of regular business hours and lunch hours if possible. Questions, please email
