Dear Bowdoin alumni:
On behalf of everyone at the College, thank you for your tremendous support of our students, faculty, staff and the entire community over the past four months. It’s been a challenging time, but we have had constant reminders of the strength we draw from your devotion to Bowdoin. From all of us - thank you very much.
Highlights of the fiscal year just ended include:
*Hundreds of alumni partnered with our Career Exploration and Development team (CXD) to provide jobs, internships, short-term gigs and other opportunities especially to the Bowdoin Class of 2020. Special thanks to the alumni who funded our new Employment Accelerator Awards, which provided grants between $250 and $2,000 to support short-term projects or internships this summer that offer members of the Class of 2020 tangible skills and professional experiences.
*From Here: The Campaign for Bowdoin added more than $115 million in gifts and pledges during the fiscal year and now stands at $344,520,316 towards our goal of $500 million.
*The Bowdoin Alumni Fund, in its 150th year, set an all-time record of $9,912,985. With so much uncertainty in the world, and so many priorities for individuals, families and organizations, we are exceptionally grateful for this record-breaking support and for the hard work of nearly 900 Class Agents and fundraising volunteers.
*Total annual giving from the Alumni Fund, Parents Fund, Friends Fund and Polar Bear Athletic Fund also established a new high of $12,891,733.
*More than 1,200 alumni made gifts at the 1794 Society level. Our thanks to Claire Newton ’02 and Rich Bonomo ’85, co-chairs of the 1794 Society Membership Committee, and to everyone who made a leadership Alumni Fund contribution this year.
*Nearly 1,700 alumni, students, faculty, staff and others–including 26 members of the entering Class of 2024–gave more than $254,000 while participating in a matching gift program to support organizations in their anti-racism efforts. More than half of the alumni who gave were also contributors to the Alumni Fund this year. Thank you for your generosity.
*More than 1,500 alumni have participated in virtual programs organized under our Beyond the Gates banner; many of those programs are being recorded and can be found here.
*Throughout this unusual time, we have been grateful for the support of the Alumni Fund Directors, chaired by Rich Miller ‘96, and the Alumni Council, led by Mike Moynihan ’89. Both groups have given invaluable service and guidance as the campus team navigated events and built new programs in the virtual space.
Thank you again for your support of the College, and have a great summer.
With best wishes,
Senior Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations
