It is the mission of the Office of the Dean of Students to take a holistic and collaborative approach to the education and empowerment of students. We support our diverse student body as they navigate social and academic transitions throughout their time at Bowdoin. We guide and advise students by promoting an inclusive community, individual growth, personal accountability, and meaningful citizenship at Bowdoin and beyond.
Members of our staff are knowledgeable about issues and problems that arise for students and are a good source of information about College resources and policies. We offer general advising as well as referrals to other campus offices. We help students and parents manage academic and nonacademic situations as they arise, consulting extensively with faculty and staff across the College. Stop by the office or contact your dean to make an appointment!
I am concerned about a student. What do I do?
The Bowdoin College CARE (Concern, Assessment, Response, Evaluation) Team provides coordinated support for students who may be in distress, and addresses concerns about student behavior, academic progress, and personal issues.
Community members are encouraged to report concerns about students who may be a danger to themselves or others, who may be in distress, or whose behavior is disruptive to others in the community.
Please note: If you believe the student may be in immediate danger to themselves or others, or in the event of an emergency, please contact Bowdoin Safety & Security at 207-725-3500.
