Bowdoin's 2011 Give & Go Best Yet
Story posted June 21, 2011
Bowdoin’s massive Give & Go sale has done it again — proceeds from this year’s sale held June 11 topped those of previous years, taking in $50,643.
An additional $1,817 raised from the sale of books to the bookstore’s buy-back program brings the overall total to $52,460, which, after expenses such as rent and insurance, will be distributed among the 27 non-profit organizations whose volunteers helped collect, sort, clean and organize the items for sale.
Non-profit groups participating this year:
A Paw in the Door
American Legion Auxiliary
Beth Israel Congregation
Bowdoin Central School PTA
Boy Scouts 648
Brunswick Coastal Rotary
Brunswick-Trinidad Sister City Assoc.
Compassion Center of Mid-Coast Maine
Coastal Maine Great Dane Rescue
Daughters of Isabella #508
Maine Voc 10-DECA
Eagles Wrestling Club
Habitat for Humanity
Midcoast Triathlon Club
Mid Coast Presbyterian Church
Odyssey of the Mind Bath
Seventh Day Adventists
Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick
Venture Crew 789
Woolwich Junior Athletics
Another example of Bowdoin's commitment to sustainability, Give & Go promotes the reuse of viable items and spares them from the landfill — all while helping non-profit organizations in the community.
