Story posted April 11, 2011
Designing the Maine Landscape (Maine Olmsted Alliance and Down East Books, 2009), which includes a chapter on Bowdoin’s historic campus, has been nominated for an award from the Council on Botanical & Horticultural Libraries (CBHL) for its "significant contribution to the literature of botany or horticulture."
The book, co-written by Director of Publications Emerita Lucie Teegarden and Theresa Mattor, celebrates the history and legacy of Maine's historic landscapes, and showcases familiar parks open to the public, private estates, golf courses, designed neighborhoods, rural cemeteries, and school and college campuses. More about the book and its authors here.
Designing the Maine Landscape is one of 30 books in the general interest category; the award will be given at CBHL’s annual meeting to be held May 17 in Chicago.
