2011 Common Good, Alumni Council Awards Presented During Reunion Convocation

The Bowdoin College Board of Trustees and the Alumni Council have announced the recipients of three awards honoring outstanding leadership and service to the College.
The Common Good Award, Alumni Service Award, and Distinguished Educator Award recognize members of the Bowdoin community for their exemplary achievement and dedication.
Common Good Award David F. Gordon '71 has counseled leaders from all walks of life (including several American Presidents) on global political and economic policy issues, and has been instrumental in the formulation of U.S. foreign and national security policies.
For his tireless efforts, Gordon has been selected by the Bowdoin College Board of Trustees to receive the 2011 Common Good Award. Read more about David Gordon.
Alumni Service Award For his decades of service and dedication to the College, Edward E. Langbein Jr. '57, has been named the recipient of the 2011 Alumni Service Award, the highest honor given by the Bowdoin Alumni Council.
The award is presented each year in recognition of an individual's record of volunteer service to the College. Read more about Ed Langbein.
Distinguished Educator Award John S. Lunt '61, has been honored by the Bowdoin Alumni Council with the 2011 Distinguished Educator Award.
The award is presented every two years in recognition of outstanding achievement in education by a member of the Bowdoin community. Read more about John Lunt.
The awards will be presented Saturday, June 4, 2011, during Reunion Convocation.
