Story posted June 17, 2010
Douglas Kennedy '76 has been described by book critics as a master storyteller with a trademark genius for writing serious popular fiction and is currently one of the bestselling novelists in Europe.
His work has been translated into 21 languages, and, in 2006, Kennedy was awarded the French decoration of Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
Even so, Time magazine has called Kennedy "The most famous American writer you never heard of."
But that's beginning to change. Kennedy was interviewed about his new novel, Leaving the World, by Keith Shortall '82 for a segment that aired on Maine Public Radio.
