NBC News Capitol Hill correspondent Kelly O'Donnell was on campus November 12, 2009, interviewing Potholm about Snowe in between catching up with Maine's senior senator in Portland and again in Bath as she spoke with shop owners.

"The far right and the far left don't do well here politically," says Potholm in the piece. "It's the center of the political spectrum that holds."
He also shared this insight as he walked with O'Donnell on the Quad: "Maine people want their senators to be for the nation first, the state second, and the party third."
NBC News posted extended excerpts of the interview with Sen. Snowe on its Web site. Watch the "Web Extra."
