Story posted July 10, 2009
Bowdoin College has given the 2009 Abraxas Award to Lincoln Academy in Newcastle, Maine.
The Abraxas Award is given each year to the secondary school sending two or more graduates to Bowdoin College whose representatives maintain the highest standing during their first year at the college.
The two students in the Class of 2012 from Lincoln Academy are twin sisters Hannah Deblois and Mary Deblois. Together, they earned a combined GPA of 3.941 during the 2008-2009 academic year, the highest for a secondary school sending two or more students to Bowdoin.
The Abraxas Award was established in 1915 by the Abraxas Society, a former Bowdoin junior class scholarly society that was active from 1893 to about 1924.
