2009 Common Good, Alumni Council Awards Presented at Reunion Convocation

The 2009 Common Good Award and two Alumni Council awards — the Alumni Service Award and the Distinguished Educator Award — were presented Saturday, May 30, 2009, during Reunion Convocation.

Alumni Service Award Mark Bayer '79 has a tremendous record of service to Bowdoin. For his many efforts, he was named the recipient of the 2009 Alumni Service Award, presented annually in recognition of an individual's record of volunteer service to the College.

Distinguished Educator Award For his decades of dedication to the field of education, Robert "Sandy" Ervin '69 has been chosen to receive the 2009 Distinguished Educator Award, presented biennially in recognition of outstanding achievement.

Common Good Award Mike Fiore '76 has dedicated his career to addressing the dangers posed by tobacco. For his tireless efforts, Fiore has been selected by the Board of Trustees to receive the 2009 Common Good Award.
