Town Construction on Park Row, Maine Street Underway
Story posted April 29, 2009
The Town of Brunswick has begun work to replace storm drain lines and catch basins along Park Row and Maine Street between Richards Drive and Page Street.
The project started April 27, 2009, and will likely continue into the fall, with the contractor often working 12-hour days, six days per week.
Work adjacent to the College will be suspended for blocks of days around events such as Commencement and Reunion. Work will not take place north of Longfellow Avenue May 22, 23, 29, 30; August 25, 29; October 16, 17, 30 and 31.
According to Brunswick Public Works Director John Foster, the new storm drain system will alleviate the flooding that frequently occurs on Maine Street and Park Row.
The College has partnered with the Town of Brunswick in this $900,000 project to ensure the work is completed this year.
Traffic work zone signs will be provided to direct traffic, and flaggers will be present as needed to ensure traffic moves safely through the work areas.
