Kennedy Food Service Director of the Month
Story posted April 23, 2009
Mary Lou Kennedy, director of the College's dining service, has been named Food Service Director magazine's Food Service Director of the Month.
The designation brings with it a lengthy spread in the magazine's April 15, 2009, issue.
The article highlights the creation of two student-initiated organic gardens, the purchase of local food and produce, and the fact that Kennedy has been able to successfully implement student ideas such as the late-night dining option, Super Snack.
"I think just being part of a learning environment is such a wonderful place to be because the students have so many ideas," Kennedy says in the article.
"I think Mary Lou's effectiveness is enhanced because her management skills are so well balanced," says Associate Director of Operations Michele Gaillard in the article.
"I've worked with directors who were extremely talented in one area, like operations or marketing, but they fell apart in other areas. Mary Lou doesn't make a big deal out of it, but she does everything well."
