A young girl, a POW and the bracelet that bound them together for decades — all elements of a heartwarming story, the first part of which aired Tuesday, March 31, 2009, on WCSH.
Forty years ago, Lynne Atkinson '81, the academic coordinator for the Government Department, wore a POW bracelet inscribed with the name of an American POW.
Last summer she did some research and discovered that he had indeed survived his captivity.
Atkinson's colleagues in the Government Department took up a collection to send her to Florida. She is there now, preparing to meet him Wednesday, April 1.
WCSH plans to interview Atkinson again upon her return to share the rest of the story.
