Record Number of Applications Submitted for Class of 2011

A record 5,899 applications for admission were submitted by prospective students this year — an increase of 9.2% over last year, when 5,401 students applied.
The incoming Class of 2011 is expected to total 475. Women account for 3,272 of the applicants (55%), and men account for 2,627 (45%).
Students of color make up 16.8% of applicants.
New England is represented by 40.5% of applications.
The Admissions Office will host Open Houses for admitted students April 13, 16, and 23. Each Open House includes a number of special events, such as student panels and briefings by deans and faculty members, and opportunities for students and families to explore the campus and its many activities. The decision deadline for students choosing to matriculate is May 1.
