Sen. Mitchell, Bowdoin Students, Featured in Prime Time Program

Senator George J. Mitchell, former Majority Leader of the U.S. Senate, renowned peacemaker and member of the Class of 1954, was featured in a program produced by WGME (Channel 13) that aired Monday.

The program, called "U Ready," focused in large part on Senator Mitchell and the George J. Mitchell Scholarship Research Institute and their commitment to post-secondary education for Maine students.

A handful of Bowdoin students, past and present, were also featured. Mitchell Scholar alumnus Jason Long '05, who is now a teacher at Oxford Hills High School, was profiled. Four current students — Dustin Brooks '08, Robert Guerette '07, Jessica McGreehan '08, and Ponnila Samuel '07 — were featured as part of a roundtable discussion.

The hour-long program aired Monday, December 18, 2006, at 8 p.m. and is scheduled to be rebroadcast on December 25 at 5 p.m.
