Class of 2009 Profile Released

Following a record year for applications (5,026) and offers of admission (1,223), the Class of 2009 has been set at 483 students as of May 10, 2005 (numbers may change over the course of the summer as the make up of the class is finalized).
Of the 483 matriculants, 221 are men and 262 are women.
Students of color represent 29% of the incoming class, numbering 141 (59 Asian American, 40 Latino/a, 32 African American, and 10 Native American).
Thirty-seven U.S. states plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico are represented, with 101 students from Massachusetts, 69 from New York, 54 from Maine, 41 from California, 24 from Connecticut, 24 from New Jersey, and 18 from Pennsylvania.
Fifteen countries are represented among the 23 international students intending to matriculate.
Members of the Class of 2009 begin to arrive on campus August 23 for Pre-Orientation trips through the Bowdoin Outing Club and the Community Service Resource Center. Orientation runs August 27 through August 31. Convocation will be held August 31, and classes begin September 1.
