ATLANTA, Ga. - Russell Athletic and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) have selected Coach Stefanie Pemper of Bowdoin College, as the 2004 Russell Athletic/WBCA NCAA Division III Coach of the Year.

Pemper becomes the 22nd coach in history to receive this accolade, which has been selected by the WBCA since 1983.

Pemper is in her sixth season at Bowdoin College. Under Pemper's guidance, the team has won four consecutive conference championships. In 1998-99, Pemper led the team to the program's first appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament. This year marks another first as the team made it to the national championship of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament for the first time on March 20 against Wilmington College of Ohio.

The New England Small College Athletic Association has also named Pemper Coach of the Year this season. Last year, Pemper received 2003 WBCA Region I Coach of the Year honors.
