Chapel and Main Lounge Open for National Day of Prayer and Remembrance

Story posted September 14, 2001

President Bush declared today, Friday, September 14, a day of "National Prayer and Remembrance," and has asked Americans to go to their places of worship at lunchtime to pray for victims and their families.

The Bowdoin College Chapel and Main Lounge in Moulton Union are open all day today, Friday, for those seeking a place to pray or to reflect on the tragic events of this week and their consequences.

The College has also created a page on its Web site as a resource for students, employees, parents, and alumni. This site includes a list of area religious organizations and their regular hours of worship. Many of these organizations will also be holding services today.

Bowdoin College will also participate this evening in a nationwide candlelight vigil beginning at 7 p.m. on the steps of the Museum of Art. The campus and greater Brunswick community are encouraged to participate. The College can supply a large number of candles, or you may bring your own. Please join us in this demonstration of unity.
