Bowdoin Celebrates Honors Day

May 24, 1999, BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Bowdoin College paid tribute recently to the accomplishments of its students. The College's third annual Honors Day celebration was Tuesday, May 11. Academic and extracurricular achievements were honored; the celebration coincided with the last day of classes.
The Bowdoin College Chamber Choir opened the ceremony. The women's a cappella group, Miscellania also performed. President Robert H. Edwards presided, and Adam Levy, assistant professor of mathematics gave an address titled "Follow a different Drummer."
Student Honors included 16 members of Phi Beta Kappa, two Watson Fellowships, two Goldwater Scholarships, four Fulbright Teaching Awards, a Fulbright Grant and numerous other fellowships. Students also were presented with commencement awards, departmental prizes and extracurricular awards.
