Bugallo/Williams Piano Duo to Present Recital

March 4, 1999, BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The Bugallo/Williams Piano Duo will give a recital of contemporary works at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 8, in Gibson Hall, Room 101. The Department of Music is sponsoring the performance as part of its Maine New Music Network Series. The recital is free and open to the public.

The program for this two-piano recital includes selections by Diderik Wagenaar, Mozart, Amy Williams, Conlon Nancarrow, John Cage, Gyrgy Kurtg, Ligeti and Morton Feldman.

Helena Bugallo and Amy Williams have been performing as The Bugallo/Williams Piano Duo since 1995. Their repertoire is centered on contemporary music from North and South America.

In addition to performing together, Bugallo and Williams have active solo careers.

Bugallo, a native of Argentina, is completing her doctorate in musicology at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where she received her master's degree in piano performance.

Williams is on the faculty of Bennington College in Vermont, and she is completing a doctorate in composition at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where she received her master's degree in piano performance.
