May 13, 1998 Brunswick, Maine-- Contributions to the Open Society Scholars Fund from the Bowdoin community have reached $5,100 toward the $6,000 goal.
The response will, for the 12th year, help support two black South African students. This year, the scholars are Mlungiseleli Ganto, studying at the University of Western Cape, and Patrick Kharume, a student at the University of Witwatersrand.
"They, and I, are most grateful for contributions from members of the Trustees, faculty, staff and students," President Robert H. Edwards said. "Thank you all."
