Adoption Specialist to Speak at Bowdoin Nov.2

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Dr. Nancy Hendrie, a pediatrician who has overseen the adoptions of more than 240 children, will give a presentation on international adoptions on Sunday, November 2, in Kresge Auditorium, Visual Arts Center, Bowdoin College, at 2 p.m.
Her talk is open to the public free of charge.
Dr. Hendrie is senior pediatric advisor for Sharing in Adoption, a 9-year-old Falmouth-based agency that helps parents with domestic and international adoptions. She gave up a private practice in Concord, Mass., to work as a volunteer pediatric consultant for a Boston adoption agency. She now lives in Arrowsic.
Dr. Hendrie has accompanied adoptive parents overseas to China, India, Vietnam and Korea. She recently returned from her first trip to Cambodia.
On her overseas trips, she gives medical exams, teaches parents basic child care and provides medical advice. An adoptive parent herself, Dr. Hendrie is a graduate of Mt. Holyoke College and the University of Pennsylvania Medical School.
