Lama to Speak, Offer Guided Meditation

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- American lama Surya Das will give a lecture and workshop at Bowdoin College in September. Das' talk, "Awakening the Buddha Within," will be held Friday, September 12, at 7 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium. The talk is open to the public free of charge.
On Saturday, September 13, Das will lead a guided meditation from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Dance Studio, Sargent Gymnasium. There is no charge, but a teaching gift is requested. Please bring a meditation cushion if available. No prior experience is required.
Das, born Jeffrey Miller, is a western Buddhist meditation teacher and scholar, a translator of Tibetan texts, and a specialist in Oriental religions and poetry. He is the author of several books, the most recent being "Awakening the Buddha Within: Tibetan Wisdom For Today" (Bantam Doubleday Dell Broadway).
