Bowdoin College will award four honorary degrees during its 192nd Commencement Exercises on Saturday

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Bowdoin College will award four honorary degrees during its 192nd Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 24.

The four recipients and their honorary degrees are:

Rosalyne S. Bernstein, of Portland, Maine; attorney and civic leader; first woman to serve on the Bowdoin College Board of Overseers; first woman to serve as a trustee of Bowdoin College; doctor of laws.

Paul P. Brountas, of Weston, Mass.; senior partner in the Boston law firm of Hale and Dorr; one of the nation's leading high technology lawyers; former chairman of the Dukakis presidential campaign; a member of the Bowdoin College Class of 1954; doctor of laws.

James M. McPherson, of Princeton, N.J..; Pulitzer Prize-winning historian and author, George Henry Davis '86 Professor of American History at Princeton University; doctor of humane letters.

Abelardo Morell, Jr., of Brookline, Mass.; internationally recognized photographer, professor of photography at the Massachusetts College of Art, a member of the Bowdoin College Class of 1977; doctor of fine arts.
