How to handle employee separation

When an employee announces his or her intent to leave employment at the College, it is critical that the supervisor complete the termination in Workday as soon as possible.  Timely processing of the termination provides various departments with information they need as the employee prepares to depart (e.g., terminate access to rooms and buildings, collect outstanding library resources, adjust benefits and advise of COBRA rights, etc.).

How to process an employee termination:

  1. Collect resignation letter from employee or offer a resignation form for them to complete.

  2. Log into Workday ( Go to the My Team worklet and choose the option to Terminate. Choose the employee who is terminating and follow instructions in Workday to complete their termination. Make sure to upload their resignation letter to their employee documents.

  3. If you have any questions, please contact Human Resources at 207-725-3837.

For additional guidance on what to do when an employee announces they will be leaving the College, contact Human Resources and review the handbook section on Employee Separation.
