Women are Beautiful and other projects: 20 Years of Photography by Jocelyn Lee
Jocelyn Lee's fascination with the physical and psychological transitions of human development has produced incisive portraits that capture the fraught passage from adolescence to adulthood, as well as the change that aging registers on the face and body, placing her in the documentary tradition of Walker Evans, Robert Frank, and Diane Arbus. In addition to portraiture, Lee has explored landscape and interior photography throughout her career. Consistent in her work is a focus on the visual and tactile qualities of the material world, emphasizing chromatic and textural richness of flesh, fabric, and foliage.
