Speakers introduce aspects of the printmaking tradition that exemplify the joys and rewards of close looking and in-depth study.
Presented in conjunction with Printmaking ABC: In Memoriam David P. Becker on view at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art through March 24, 2013. The exhibition comprises masterly prints from Albrecht Durer and Rembrandt to David Hockney and Mel Chin is drawn from the collection of 1,500 prints given and bequeathed by David Becker, Class of 1970. David Becker, scholar, collector, and educator, is remembered at Bowdoin as a trustee, quiet philanthropist, and advocate for the Bowdoin College Museum of Art.
This session will be followed by the Museum of Art's Winter Open House from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Session II of this symposium will be held February 1 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Museum.
