About

Tsai has collaborated with composer Nathan Kolosko on "water & wind", an ongoing series of videos. A selection of three of these-"pebble rain", "grass lake", and "waterbugs"–demonstrates the artist’s capacity to cultivate sensory presentness in her audience. Intended to “resensitize” viewers, these works foster close attention to the rhythms of the natural phenomena depicted and their relationship to the musical score. Seen in this sequence, the visual field begins to dematerialize as the camera’s gaze shifts from rain-dappled stones, to shimmering reflection, and, finally, to insects that register as particles of light.
