You can once again make a tax-free gift directly from your IRA to Bowdoin. If you’re 70½ or older, you can make charitable gifts of up to $100,000 per year during 2013 directly from your IRA – without including the amount of the distribution as taxable income. Your gift also counts toward your required minimum distribution.
As of January 1, 2013, Congress has extended the IRA Charitable Distribution. This extension continues through December 31, 2013. Contact your IRA account administrator to request they distribute your gift directly to Bowdoin.
