Remembering Former Visiting Economics Professor David Aschauer

David Aschauer, visiting professor of economics at the College from January 1999 to May 2001, died Monday, August 22.

Aschauer, the Elmer W. Campbell Professor of Economics at Bates College since 1990, was 58 years old.

Prior to his arrival in Maine, Aschauer was a senior economist on the Board of Governors at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, and his expertise was tapped by the likes of the U.S. Congress, World Bank, CIA and EPA. Read the Sun Journal obitiuary.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at the St. John the Baptist Church in Brunswick.
