Biathlete Walt Shepard '10 Sets Sights on Winter Games
Story posted December 29, 2009
With the Winter Olympics set to begin February 12, 2010, in Vancouver, Walt Shepard '10, contender for a spot on the U.S. Olympic biathlon team, is giving it all that he's got.
Shepard recently spent a week in Minnesota, where he qualified for the final phase in the Olympic selection process before taking off for Germany and a series of races in Europe.
"Needless to say, this was a huge step for me," says Shepard.
"I'm absolutely thrilled to be moving on to European racing, but there is still a lot of work to do."
Shepard reports that there are now only six men left competing for the remaining two spots on the Olympic Team.
Those will be decided in Altenburg, Germany, January 11 after two races on the World Cup "B" circuit.
