Recurring Role for Bowdoin T-shirt on Grey's Anatomy
Story posted November 14, 2008
It seems a Bowdoin T-shirt is the sleepwear of choice for Dr. Derek Shepherd on the hit ABC show Grey's Anatomy.
For the second time this season, the good doctor, played by Maine native Patrick Dempsey, has been shown wearing a Bowdoin tee to bed.
The scene aired during the November 13, 2008, episode.
Dr. Shepherd, (a.k.a. "McDreamy") wore the same grey Bowdoin tee in the opening scene of the October 23 episode.
The Bowdoin-Grey's Anatomy connection is the culmination of a two-year campaign to adopt Dr. Shepherd as a Bowdoin grad.
It was conceived and spearheaded by Cole Harris of the Class of 1978.
Harris, who approached the College about the idea in the fall of 2006, delivered a petition to the show's producers in early 2007 that was signed by more than 450 students and other members of the Bowdoin community.
