Elliott Schwartz, composer and Beckwith Professor of Music Emeritus, was interviewed for a segment that aired Saturday, May 3, 2008, on the WCSH show, Bill Green's Maine.

The interview comes in anticipation of the premiere performance of Schwartz's new string quartet.
"For Louise and Aaron" will be premiered at Merrill Auditorium in Portland May 8, 2008, at 7:30 p.m., as part of the PCA Great Performances series and will be played by the Borromeo Quartet, an internationally known quartet in residence at the New England Conservatory.
It's one of three premieres of Schwartz's music that day. Also on May 8, he and Andy King '08 will perform Schwartz's "Prelude, Memorial and Aria" for cello and piano in Gibson Recital Hall at noon.
At 4 p.m., also at Gibson, Katie Cushing '10 will be playing "The Seven Seasons," a new piece also written by Schwartz.
Schwartz and his music are also to be the subjects of an episode of Incredible Maine on the Maine Public Broadcasting Network to air Saturday, June 14. The show features 15 Bowdoin students, including Cushing and King, playing experimental 20th and 21st century music.
Incredible Maine airs Saturday at 10:30 a.m. on the stations of the Maine Public Broadcasting Network (locally on WCBB, Channel 10).
