Step it Up to Save the Polar Bears April 14

Story posted April 09, 2007

April 14, 2007, has been designated a national day of climate action, called "Step it Up." The student group, Polar Bears Against Climate Change (PACC), says given Bowdoin’s close ties with the Polar Bear, the College is an important place to speak out about this issue.

A Save the Polar Bear rally is planned for Saturday, April 14, at 1 p.m. PACC invites the Bowdoin Community and the public at large to gather around the Polar Bear Statue outside Sargent Gym for a program that includes a brief address by U.S. Representative Tom Allen ’67.

Organizers are planning to take a photo of the crowd to be sent to Congress along with a message calling for legislation to significantly reduce carbon emissions. A march to downtown Brunswick is scheduled to follow. In case of rain the event will be held inside Morrell Gym.
