Employee Polar Star Nominations

Story posted April 16, 2006

Planning for the 2006 Polar Awards is well underway! The annual event, which honors and celebrates Bowdoin College employees, is scheduled for Wednesday, June 14, 1:30-4 p.m., in Thorne Hall.

The ceremony will include acknowledgements of retiring staff members and employees who have reached milestone years of service. In addition, five Polar Star Awards, recognizing administrative and support staff for excellence and contributions to the "common good," will be presented throughout the day.

Nominations are now being accepted for the Polar Star Awards! All are invited to consider nominating a deserving employee who is a fine leader or fabulous team player. Or perhaps someone who has developed a unique or innovative approach for a project, or one who demonstrates extraordinary commitment and determination in accomplishing his or her tasks.

What a great opportunity to honor and recognize a deserving employee -- either within your own department, or from any corner of campus -- in the areas of innovation, commitment, customer service, leadership, or teamwork.

Nominations are due to Human Resources by FRIDAY, MAY 5.

Visit the Polar Awards site to download a nomination form. Note that guidelines and suggestions for how to submit a nomination that will really catch the selection committee's eye is on page 2 of the form.

Don't forget: one form per nomination. Got five nominations? You must submit five separate forms.
