Renovations at Hawthorne-Longfellow Library Make Part of Collection Unavailable

Story posted May 19, 2000

Renovations to Bowdoin College’s Hawthorne-Longfellow Library will make part of the collection, in particular bound periodicals, unavailable this summer, starting on May 22.

Library users and local residents who wish to access parts of the collection listed below should try and visit the library before May 22.

Starting May 22 to August 15, the basement collection will be shrink-wrapped and inaccessible. This includes all bound periodicals housed in the basement (titles A-P). The subject areas for the bound periodicals include humanities, social sciences and fine arts; i.e., almost all titles except those housed in the Hatch Science Library.

On the first floor, the collection will be inaccessible from June 2 to August 15. This includes bound periodicals from "State Government" to "Zygon." The regular circulating collection on the first floor will be unavailable. The subject areas for these books include General Works, Philosophy and Psychology, and Religion. The oversized folio items on the first floor will also be unavailable.
